I would recommend 4.44s ...

Car feels like it should have come this way. Pulls better in the low gears and you don't lose a lot on the top end. Stock I was 4000rpm @75mph. Now I am 4400rpm @ 75mph.
I'm actually on waitlist hoping to get this in Dec, i cant wait. Sounds like gears are the way to go!

seeing as you own a ap2, i would not recommend the 4.44.
Ap2 tranny 1-4th gear is already equivilent of a 4.3 gear.

What's wrong with 4.3s? They are readily available and cheap since the 5 speed Miatas all came with them.

It's more like 4.77 from 1st-4th in AP2 tranny

Top speed in mph, AP2 stock tranny:
36.9

So would i notice any kind of difference with 4.44s on an AP2?

Yesterday, I got my Toda Flywheel with ACT Clutch Kit and Richmond 4.57s installed. I didn't feel too much difference so I raced a friend of mine who has a 98 BMW M Roadster. Before my parts were installed, he was taking me from a roll because of the torque on his car. Today, same thing happened. we were on 2nd (I was at 6000 rpm) and we did a roll. 2nd gear acceleration was the same. 3rd gear he started to pull a little and 4th gear he started to make it 2-3 cars. Now, the car is definitely faster but it is faster on the first two gears. Before I used to launch with 6000-7000 rpm which was a decent launc. Today when i did the same thing i was just spinning tires till the end of first. so I did the second launc with 5000. still it was spinning a lot. I pull by a car when we launch and at the end of the gear he catches up and on 4th he passes.

The car is definitely faster but still lacking a lot of torque on 3rd and 4th. I am a little disappointed. Without putting a supercharger, what would you guys suggest that i can put on the car?? i thought about the storker kit but it costs more than a used SC. What should I do to get like 20-30 hp more?? what are your suggestions to make the car faster on 3rd-4th?? Do you think the gears will be better after some time?? I know there is nothing with my gear changes. It just goes down to 7000rpm when i upshift...

I know BMW is a 3.2 V6 and that's where it gets all that torque but i think that it is doable without a SC. If I put a good Header and a CAI, would it close that GAP?? also what about putting an aftermarket ECU??? which brand would you suggest??

Get a dyno done, it sounds like yo may be down on power.

The 98 M roadsters were only 240hp and a slower car all around.
