First oil change
Question:
I drive the car in LA and my commute to work is 7 miles. I normally warm up the car to three bars before I leave the garage, once a week or so I don't. My commute to work is not stop and go, but my commute home usually is. With this, should I have any reason to treat this as a severe driving conditions or should I use this as normal.(I see severe says less than 5 miles, but this commute is only 7 and since I am in LA, I have a lot of stop and go
)
Thanks for your input(all opinions welcome)

If I were you mjcohen, I'd consider that severe and change the oil every 3750. Especially with the stop & go traffic and you warming it up. It can't hurt and your engine would appreciate it. Also, there is really no need for the warm up period.

Yeah. I hear these engines use up some oil. Any idea why?

Mine too. I just hit 2000 miles yesterday and felt paranoid about the oil and checked it when I got home from work yesterday and the level is right in the middle. I suspect those that are losing oil must have some strange driving habits that I (or you) don't perform.
