I just got a '06 S2k with 20k on it and drove it 324 miles home(all freeway). We got 29.13 mpg, I thought they only got about 24-25 mpg but I did that drive on one tank of gas(we drove 70 mph most of the time)is this typical for the S2k ?
Not another one of these threads...

For 100% highway on a road trip, 30MPG is pretty easy to attain (especially using cruise). In the city I get about 19.

YMMV, as they say.

The S2000 does really well on MPG on all highway.

My personal best on my bone stock AP1 was 34.0 mpg! Stock sized tires at 35psi all around, top down half the time, 65-70 mph.

I couldn't believe those numbers but I did the math right. Since then I have been able to get 30-31 highway on average.

I wouldnt worry so much about size i only run the purolator PureOne , or the Bosh Distance Plus filter they both trap 99.9 percent of all dirt down to one micron and if you ask me thats pretty good it gives you that piece of mind that virtually no dirt what so ever is getting into the bearings. the Bosh is better than the PureOne because it has the highest burst strength and holds up to 30 grams of dirt where as the Pure one only holds up to 13 grams. To my knowledge these two filters are the best oil filters made and arent really expensive ether. Pure one is around $ 7.00 and Bosh is around $ 15.00 and both are the shape and size of the oem honda oil filter.
OEM would be the best... and its what the motor was designed with.
here a link of different OEM filters.

edit: and its under $10.

I am an advocate of OEM filters are overpriced and not best.

Do you use Honda motor oil in your S2000? I doubt it.

So why use OEM filters when there are plenty of high end filters on the market that do a better job and cost less?

Highway I get(MY00 100% stock, idr what tires, nothing special) between 29-31 and I have never had a tank below 23.5mpg. I've never tracked my car, but I have taken some twisty back road pretty hard and I don't seem capable of getting worse mpg than I usually do.

If you think about it, the more a filter filters, the less flow you will have. The less a filter filters, the more flow you will have. So if your regrading to ones that filters down to 5 microns, keep in mind that you would need a microscope to see a micron. I think the Toyo Roki 15400 PCX-004 (Honda filter) is the best for our cars being that is was designed specifically for the S2000.

Oil, I use Mobile 1 full synthetic. (As many of us switched to synthetic) And guess who make Honda's oil? Exxon/Mobile

Mine is on Dunlop star specs and I average 27-28 mpg with my 100 mile daily commute and around town driving. That mpg goes down quick when you let vtec sing tho =D.

I drive aggressively on the streets with no highway miles and 1/8 of toe in the rear. I fill 11 gallons every 200 miles. So consider that your baseline.

I have seen 30 mpg doing all highway @ 72 mph the entire way using cruise control. My usual is around 26 though.
