Hello,

I'm new to this page because I finally found an s2000! However the person I bought it from was from an older gentlemen. It is an 04 s2000 and haven't been driven since 2017. It has 64,900 miles right now, what should I do as for fluids? I checked the oil at cold temperatures and it was clear as new and at the 4-5 bar on the dipstick. I was getting a lot of ?s for me to change the oil and transmission fluids? Any thoughts? Also I would appreciate it if someone would tell me what to do with during ODO readings go up for example at 70k miles I should.... 75k miles.... 80k miless... and so on.

The maintenance schedule is in the owner's manual. No need to deviate from it although many of us here do it more frequently. Note many have time requirements and you're probably past all of them if the car hasn't been serviced since at least 2017.

Consensus seems to be to change all the fluids -- engine, gearbox, and differential -- to include brakes and coolant. This gets you a good base line. Ensure the correct oil filter is on the engine.

Zero every single fluid, do a valve adjustment, change the plugs.

This is the ultimate resource.

I agree with Chuck and Darcy to change all the fluids and plugs, and to adjust the valves. Get a new cabin air filter and torque the axle nuts as well. Cheap insurance to baseline the maintenance and correct any mistakes or laziness by previous mechanics (including dealerships).

I did this when I bought mine with 108k on it. The previous owner had records for all the service (including the major one at 105k), but I found that they cut corners. The brake and clutch fluid were clear in the reservoir, but when I bled them the fluid in the lines had clearly not been flushed in a very long time, if ever. Many of the valves needed re-adjustment as well.

I've had an s2000 for almost 10 years now and I cannot believe I have never seen this site! what an incredible resource.

Also to the new owner, keep in mind that you want 75W90 oil for the diff, not what Honda originally stated. This issue happens all the times at dealerships.

The specification for the differential is Honda stated it correctly as a single viscosity. Synthetic multi-grade is fine.

There's almost as much discussion on this as engine oil.

Important to note the differential oil needs to be replaced often on our cars. Few others require it.

Thanks guys. Always great to see it linked in threads and used by the community. That was my intention as the creator and as an S2000 owner. Took a lot of gathering and scouring the internet to put it all together. I'd like to update it more frequently but it's getting harder to find new content to add.
