Congratulation on hitting 100mph. drive safely though.

I've hit over 100mph in rt.3 ,4, 17, I-90, 80, 81,& 287 but I always had my view in front so I could not see the top speed. It must been in between 120 - 130. Most I love is going in to curve 40mph in 2nd gear, of course in vtec, accelerate as exiting and shift to 3rd, about 60 - 70mph?, then continue accelerate in vtec.

cheers,

I reached the redline in 5th at 230kmh (142.9151mph
First question: How did swiss2k hit 170? Was this a modified car or was he going straight down a cliff?

Also as for your 143mph in 5th, did you go past 9,000rpms in order to achieve this? Maybe my math is wrong or you went to 9400 rpms but I show 139 as the fastest you can go in 5th. Did you not put it in 6th gear?

I have hit 140 in 5th gear and was at 9500rpm's. Very smooth ride at high speeds.

I have always switched right at 9000rpms. So when does the rev limiter take effect or do you have a aftermarket chip?

I can run the tach all the way up and then some, I am guesing that the limiter is set around 10K.

hi

i have tested my superleggera (18", rear 255/35:225/40) last week on the german autobahn.

of corse, the autobahn go a little bit downhill, but 263 km/h are no bad

I have a gps on board, the speedo show 270km /h @ 8800

Dean29

i had my car shut off at I think 142mph in 5th (it scared the hell out of me as I didn't think about 5th gear vs 6th gear)

the overseas guys have hit their top speeds on slight downhills (much like my tailwind aided 161mph)..... i think fuel shut off is near 9200rpm or so...

Not much left to explore of the S2000...

I usually break 100 every time I take it out, it just comes up so quick and keeps pulling.

Some people have hit an indicated 170+ while on a dyno, and that would put the limiter right around 9400 or so.

My S2K is the first sports car I've ever owned, and certainly the first car I've owned where I'd seriously consider approaching 100. That and the fact that I'm in my mid-30's so I've left my immortal years well behind me, unlike some on this board who'd hit 100 going to the 7-11 for a coke! (Not that I don't love to read the threads about it!) So getting out of the 80's is not something I tend to do on a daily basis. VTEC yes; 90+ no.

I was on route 250 west of Richmond today and found a stretch of road that was arrow straight and flat for about a mile. Better yet, I was the only one on the road so the only other creatures I might put in danger were the bugs who were about to mar my finish.

I stepped on the gas, and at 80 put my other hand on the wheel. My heart started to get into it after 90 and a great smile broke out on my face at seeing that third digit light up.

I'll definitely have to make it a point to get out there more often.

Hello AgS2K!! I believe it was you that I saw on West Broad St. (twice). I was taking a gentleman for a ride who is interested in buying an S2000 and never drove or even rode in one.

Awesome! We hit 102 mph between Short Pump and Manakin.......that 1 or 2 mile stretch of road there where it opens up.

We need to have a local meet sometime, that would be a lot of fun.

VA S2K,

I wondered if that was you! I've been talking with DaveZ and he said you had a silver/black and I'd probably be seeing you around. I pulled over into the Borders parking lot after seeing you the second time, hoping you were going to be doing a U-turn, but I guess you went on down past Costco.

We definitely need to get everyone in Richmond together.
