This is a good car to go fast in. It is pretty stable.
You ought to try it in a '63 covair spyder.
At around 90 the front wheels come off the ground
I guess that is why they had a big rock in the front trunk.
I had an early 911 turbo and that thing would demand a lot of little steering inputs at above 140. It was real sensitive to cross winds.

Dean29,
Last friday I took my longest ride so far, central jersey to AC.
While on the GSPKWY I had the speed limiter kick in on me......That scared the #@$% out of me, thought I blew it up!!! Damn gotta pay closer attention to that TAC! When I took a peak I was doing 94MPH 3rd. Everything was fine on the way home, yet the next day when the engine was could and I went to venture into VTECH land the speed limiter again nocked me down,.... but this time it was at 7000 rpms.
Anybody out there expereince this when the engine is cold.

Yes I have had the same experience when the engine is cold. I once had it cut out on me at around 5k. As the engine progressively gets warmer the limit is increased.

Thanks, I feel a little better.

Hit 122 M.P.H. on the way back from Louisiana to Dallas, TX. Loved every mile.
It was a great drive had other cars trying to catch me to see what kind of car this "yellow streak" that passed them was.
Made really great time, now when will they repeal the speed limit. Or I am thinking about moving to Montana.

And of course, if your basing this on the speedometer rather than something more accurate like a GPS or radar gun, you still haven't hit 100.
Most vehicles, S2K included, read about 5 - 7% optomistic on their speedometers. Some as much as 10%!

The speed lockout is an engine rev limiter to prevent damage to the liners, rings, and bearings. When an engine's cold, the gaps are much smaller, resulting in a much higher coeficient of friction for all the moving parts. Wear is significantly higher when the motor's cold, and you run it way the hell up. Also, when you first start the car, there's effectively NO OIL IN THE MOTOR. For the first few hundred revolutions, there's no oil in certain areas of the engine, like the valvetrain, the conrod wrist pins, and cylinder liners. It takes a few seconds for the oil pump to get the oil circulating, and for those first seconds, it's VERY DAMAGING to rev the engine. The rev limiter helps in this regard be keeping revs under 6k for a cold engine (<70? degrees fahrenheit) and under 7.5k for a slightly warmer engine (<100 degrees fahrenheit. I'm in the US, the conversions are 21 C and 38 C respectively).
For VTEC to work completely, the coolant (therefore the block) must be over 100 degrees (three bars on the temp gauge) and the oil pressure must be in operating range (dunno what the exact measurement is).
AFAIK, there is no speed limiter, I've hit 155 in mine. it just wouldn't go any faster (drag limited).
