if you're interested in doing this... here's the thread that you need to check out...
be cautioned and forewarned though - you are bypassing safety's on the car.... personally, i'd advise against bypassing both and suggest only bypassing the speed sensor and using the '1-click' method on the parking brake.

here's another thread with lots of good info on how to do it and people who've done it....

personal aside:

sigh. sometimes, i REALLY hate the search here... i knew the thread i wanted.... i knew where it was and who wrote it.... you'd think that by searching for "speed sensor soft top" and SC_Highlander in the Electronics forum, i would have found: this thread... or even this thread but alas, i did not... instead i get: Sorry, but search returned no results. What a POS search engine.

PJK I had the same problem when I decided to do it myself. I had found it once and didn't save it and when I went to find it again it took forever. Had to re-go through all the other posts to find it again.

Yeah they've got to be thinking retard or a$$hole! One or the other. But do we really care? After all they're in a mini-van ... I'm in a S2000.

I was caught in a deluge in my 98 Vette with the top stored in the trunk.. I've never seen rain that heavy(it was in Hawaii) and somehow rain got into the cars computer.. my dash, engine etc went haywire before I could get pulled over and put the top back on.. after about 20 minutes everything was back to normal, but loosing power on the freeway like that wasn't fun..

I got caught in a rainstorm in southern Washington once on my way back from California. I had her wound up above 70 MPH so getting wet wasn't an issue but I knew Tacoma was around the corner and anybody who has ever driven through Tacoma in the afternoon knows you can't keep it above 70 (or 0 sometimes) so I found a hardware store with an awning and put the top up.

Wait, so the rain doesn't roll off the top of the windshield and drip down into the cabin?
That would be cool! I used to squirt people who tailgated me with my wiper fluid when I had my Integra.
It is fun and very effective!

I miss being able to do that in the S, but if you stay dry at freeway speeds (and no drips) I might give 'em a squirt next time.

....and what is rain? Some of us have heard of that down here in San Diego, but we're not sure.
