once in vtec should you feel like the engine is straining. I get plenty of power but it does feel as if the engine is really cranked. Given some of the descriptions here I am not sure what should be expected from the transition over 6000rpm? Any thoughts.

there is a bunch of power and a noticable step up in "intensity" of the sound at a bit over 6500. at about 7k you can seriously feel increased torque. at about 8k the sound gets a bit scary (grin).

that's the best description i can come up with.

As the VTEC engages, so busts the cherry!

I bought my S2k in OR and drove it back to San Francisco,CA. Put on 570 miles in one day (OUCH!!). As a result, I was VTEC-ing in no time. But yes, it is quite a thrill to hit up in the 8-9k RPM range.

For added enjoyment, find nearby tunnel (preferably a long one), down shift into 2nd as you enter tunnel (top down of course), and floor it like a mother. Beware, this may result in partial hearing loss.

Enjoy!
