Well, compared to other convertibles and regular cars, its a safe car. Four and five star crash ratings, plus the previously mentioned NHTSA standards for rollover. Depending on how a car rolls over, having a roof doesn't mean much - its still held up by A,B,C, etc pillars, and if they go, the roof is caving in.

He broke his arm pretty good and i think hit his head on the roll bar. It was bad so that is nothing. The car was so far down the mountain you could barely see it. Must have been a scary ride. The guys friend who went down to help him lost his keys on the way down so he was stranded as well. Amazing how well the car did.

Wrong, we all need to keep the cars on the pavement.
And yes, this car is very safe compared to many cars on the road. More often than not, it's the drivers who are unsafe. I have been in that group before.

Well DUH! but I mean if the worst were to happen......
- a VERY stiff frame: I would still say that this is the stiffest convertible in the segment alongside the Z4.
- High door sills
- Twin Impact Beams in the doors instead of the usual single beam.
- Front Rollover hoop (Reinforced Windsheild Frame) composed of 1.5" diameter steel tubing that is 0.08" thick.
- Rear Rollover hoops
- Huge crush space in the front
This car was tested IN HOUSE in Honda's own indoor crash testing facility for crashworthiness in FRONT, SIDE, REAR, and ROLLOVER impacts and passed all tests with flying colors.
To say the S2000 is unsafe because it is "small", a "sports car" or because it is a "convertible" is to be uninformed. No car is 100% safe, but the S2000 is one pretty damned safe car, convertible or not.
Yep, rolled mine. I'm 6'3" and my friend in the pass seat is 6'4". Went off the road down a ravine flopped over against a tree. Windshield frame help up well. I had done the seat mod on the drivers seat, the passenger just ducked down. Neither one of us even had a scratch, they're pretty tough cars. Even the wife was impressed and brags to friends who think they can be dangerous that they are in fact a very safe car.
I believe the S2000 to be very safe, that still isn't going to keep me from putting a roll cage in my car. These wrecks are happening in spirited drives and I believe if you do any type of recreational racing you should cage up and get a helmet, this thread just reinforces those beliefs. I hope any of you that do get into a situation like this will walk away uninjuried..
