I live in massachusetts, and we got hit with some heavy rains. The S2000 is my daily driver and i was heading to work today, it was already hard to see out, but i maintained a steady 30-45mph. I came to a street that was flooded, but it was too late to realize it so i couldn't turn back with a line of cars behind me. I drove through at about 6-10 mph, water was coming up over my hood, nothing managed to get through the doors though, and when i made it to work, i popped my hood, and was relieved that everything was dry, my only concern was the transmission and LSD. I called a dealership and they said the way its designed i should be fine, but to play it safe have my fluids checked out. After the 12 hr day of work i went out to start my car, and popped the hood, and noticed i have a ticking now. I have a video of the noise that i just took, its a little dark but you can find it here

(EDIT: Changed to smaller video)

What else could have possibly got damaged?
water in the exhaust? etc etc

Check air filter to see if it's wet.

I'm really sorry to hear about that. That would make me sick too.

Are you running on all four cylinders? I can't tell from the sound clip. Put your hand up against each tailpipe and see if you're getting a pronounced pulsing that coincides with the ticking. And take Hyperm's advice to see if the air filter is wet. If it is, you may have gotten some water in one or more of the cylinders. There's a possibility that you got enough water to hydrolock one of the cylinders, resulting in a bent valve.

Also check your dipstick for any milky residue. If you see any, you will want to replace your oil ASAP. Regardless of what you find, your best bet is to take it in to the dealer and have them find the source of the tick. IMO, it's probably not good news.

You may also want to check with your insurance company to see if this type of situation is covered under "flood damage". Good luck.

that noise sounds like a loose or wet belt that is slipping, other than that i think you need a valve adjustment.

let us know how everyhting turns out, that back and fourth ticking sounds like a fricking clock!

Besides that ticking it sounds ok to me as it sounds somewhat close to mine, but it is on video and I have crappy speakers so don't take my word to heart

good luck!

I would atleast change all your fluids to be safe. If your hood was under water, there's a lot of places that water can get into.....

just my .02

i have 11k miles, is that normal for needing a valve adjustment so soon? The dealer checked everything, and changed the fluids, said everything was ok. But i still have the ticking. If it dont stop i will take it back
