Default fog lamps in side mirrors

i was woundering if anybody was familer with the world rally cars and have noticed the fog lamps in the side mirrors on some of the cars. if so do you think it would be possible to put driving lights in our S side mirrors. i just think it would be a neat little touch if we could mold them inside the mirror to give a little extra light. i have seen this done on a corvette and it really looks neat at night. i am looking at many lights right now to perform this mod with. the most important part now is finding someone who can do this cutting the hole and molding the lights in the mirrors perfect with no aero suffering.

My guess would be that they are illegal.

i wouldn't think they would be illegal cause all they are is fog lamps and i am going to have them wired to a second switch so i can just turn them on and off

I understand what you are saying, I just think the height of them may cause the local police to pull you over. If they are ever on and blind someone coming your way, they can cause an accident.

They would not be very useful as fog lamps. Fog lamps need to be mounted low. I'd suspect they are used as corner illuminators in this position.

I'd expect to get some tickets.

It may not matter to the police where you aim them, just that you have them at that height. Rally cars aren't in the habit of having other cars coming towards them. Nor are the right behind anyone. It's just them and the road.
