Just curious.. but is there anyone here who thinks the miata's a half way decent car? I've driven both and see different things I like about both (havent driven the brand new one though).

I know this is an S2000 board and Im not trying to ask the obvious question of which car you think is better, just curious if anyone would be honest enough to admit to having driven one and like it.

Voted for the Miata... gotta represent Love the S2000... but I had to go with the underdog. Although, the new miata isn't my favorite due to the fact that its almost a ford.

It's not almost a Ford, it is a Ford but then so is the GT and I wouldn't toss one of those to the curb.

Thats very true... even the motor says FO MO CO on it.

However, I wouldn't go throwing it in with the ford GT just yet. A mustangs a ford too and I wouldn't be caught dead owning one of those. Although, the brand new ones aren't too bad.. much better then the previous years IMO.

Sorry.. didn't mean to get off topic

Voted for S2000.

Oh yeah, and wait for the Mazdaspeed Miata to come out, then it will be a fair comparison.

voted. 60/40, S2000 is up. i previously owned a 2nd gen miata LS before my 06 S. i'd have to say that i like them in their own different ways... like how the miata is light and has alot of get up and go, it corners pretty good. but unlike the S2000, the miata isn't nearly as stable. the S2's gears are just much more likeable for me, but sometimes i feel like the S also lacks torque. i think the miata has enough torque for a car thats that small.
should i put a disclaimer? coz my miata was 5 speed... and i didnt have the mazdaspeed model.
in addition to the performance aspect of the cars, theres also the cosmetic part of it. i think both cars look very clean. though i AM a bit disappointed at the s2000's quality, because i've had to return the car to service many times for things such as a lunky transmission, abnormal noise from the soft top, and early deterioration of my leather steering wheel (2 months after i got it... off the delivery truck). the only thing i had to get fixed in the miata were the latches and the passenger door panel.
all in all i think they're both very decent cars. but all of this is opinionated and just based on my experience. i have no one to site this from but myself.
