Forget Card&Driver, we've got the Associated Press!
Chris Bangle is the biggest bullshitter on the face of the earth. He's made an art of bullshit, in fact -- and that's the only art he creates. His auto designs are quite ordinary, hardly revolutionary.
Since Brian Mobrin is now one of us, we have to be sure he's invited to our regional events!

I would surely welcome him at any S2KCA event...but not before a public apology to the club for using the text on our site as the basis for his 'article.' I'm a little flabbergasted that he would plagiarize a public website to create an ariticle like this...
A member of our club asked me recently if he could use the same text from the site in something he was creating. I said 'of course!' I was happy about letting him. Why can't a "journalist" show the same respect? Sounds to me like this Brian character is hardly a journalist and apparently isn't very bright, either.
Some people just have no respect for other's property...that's the bigger issue here. A simple email or phone call to me would have been all it took and he would have had permission. But no, he had to sneak around what people used to do as a matter of course. I think it's deplorable...and I demand an apology and a public one would be even better. I don't think there is any excuse for this kind of thing.

gomason, I wasn't saying anything bad about you posting it...I like good press about the car, as well, and you had no idea that it was plagiarized...my beef is with him, not you. It was sure strange picking my jaw up off the desk after the first sentence...
It is a good article...I should know, I wrote the damn thing!

agreed 100% again greg - mobrin should have asked permission...but imitation is the sincerest form of flatery...and I say welcome him to this board and to s2kca - at least he wasn't criticle of the car we all know and love...and I'd take an imitated positive article over that original unfair comparison junk c&d just did...

Plagiarism is a VERY serious offense, a firing offense even. Glowing report or not, claiming someone else's work as your own is one of the most dishonorable things a journalist can do.
I helped proof that article before Greg published it ages ago. Brian Mobrin should be completely ashamed of himself.

Let me get this straight, the guy copies some of the text on your website and you want to get him fired!!!!!!!!!!!
He is a fellow S2000 owner and has nothing but good words for the car, so what if he copied some text... It's just text on a public website.
The whole point is, it was for POSITIVE reasons. Let's not forget that.

Since I now feel lousy about posting this rip-off, albeit extremely positive piece, I took the liberty of personally contacting the associated press regarding the offending nature of the article's inspired ripoff. As an S2000 devotee and LAWYER, I figured I'd put in a nasty scare at the AP on behalf of fellow s2ki member Stevens. If you check my posts, I also posted a recent New York Times Article on BMW design chief Chris Bangle and his ugly new crop of BMW's...but apparantly no plaigarism there....
anyhow, back to my point...and it's a big one:
THE AP NEVER HEARD OF THIS GUY MOBRIN, THEY DON'T HAVE A SUNDAY DRIVE COLUMN, AND THIS ARTICLE IS APPARANTLY A HOAX!
I never did think to verify the source of the articles I was posting (should I call the new york times too everytime there's a good article?) but simply copied and pasted from a website I had found through google after searching for s2000 review articles for a friend. I had come across that one, and felt that it was so good, that I had to share my positive feelings (and the article itself) with my fellow enthusiasts on this board. No article out there is necessary to sell me on this car, as I couldn't be any more estatic about my '02 Sebring/Black which I've had since Nov 2001.
Apparantly, some jokester got a little creative with Gred Stevens' s2kca site and decided to have a little fun. Even funnier is the fact that until all this follow up to my post, I had never really even heard to much about s2kca...never really paid attention- thought it was a regional club (thought the "ca" stood for California or something) not in my area...but I was also wrong about that too.
So, apologies all around to s2kca and the like, as it was silly to post perhaps without verifying authenticity (learned my lesson)...
