Default Fragile S2000 windshield?

I cracked my windsheild yesterday, I don't remember a rock hitting it, I would think I would remember something big enough to crack the windshield. Since the car only has 1100 miles on it I hope Honda will cover it under warranty.

I just want to know how many others have had this problem?

TIA,

You should check with your insurance policy to see if it's covered. Honda should not cover a cracked windshield. The car is low to the ground which makes it more vulnerable to debris hitting the windshield. Just the fact that you don't remember anything hitting it could mean that maybe somebody vandalized your windshield. If that was the case how could you hold Honda responsible? I have 6000 miles no cracks and I would bet the majority of folks don't have a problem.

Mine's been replaced. I know many people on here have had theirs replaced, very common "problem" - do a search and you should find threads already on this. As Turbo said, check your insurance, they paid for mine.

LOL!!! Well, sort of, I guess. . .

I just had my windshield chipped yesterday during the Charlotte run! A stone came up from Gregg's car and ping. . .windshield chip!!! Very bad!

Funny thing. . .only 2500 miles on my '02 and already a chip! I had 38k miles on my '00 and NEVER had any problems! Even had a chunk of brick hit it once with no effects!

Guess, I'll pay for it now!!!

When I bought my S last month with 24k miles on it the windshield was perfect. Two weeks ago a heard something hit the windshield at night, in the morning a noticed a small star/crack by the drivers side.
Oh well .... I guess its just a random occurence and being a little unlucky.

Guess so. With the deductable I have on my insurance it's not worth claiming it, and since I cannot run SCCA events with the crack I will have to get it replaced. On closer inspection it looks like a rock hit it. I must be more careful and not follow so close.

First week I had the car - got hit with a chip bouncing along the interstate. I was going about 65 when it happened. Caused a pretty good sized nick in the lower-middle part of windshield. I began to worry when a crack formed. Went to dealer and had it filled (new S2000 windshield costs almost $900!!!). I think the crack is spreading, but I may be seeing things.

Have talked to other folks about this - seems as if many others have had windshield issues too.

In some states, like MA, windshield replacements are covered without a deductible.

The S2000 is statistically more susceptible to windshield damage because:
- faster cars tend to tailgate more
- the faster you are going, the higher the relative speed is to the stone coming your way
- the windshield is more upright than most cars - the angle of impact is less likely to deflect the stone.

SoloVR6,

I had the same problem, took my car across to France, driving down to the Hypermarket, did a bit of shopping came out to find a 10 inch crack across the windshield.
Followed it back to a tiny chip, would of thought that the windshield would of been able to handle this
Had to have mine replaced under insurance, warranty does not cover things like that.
