Smile Freeway Retard

So on my way home..
Was on a bridge 60E Freeway going about 70 MPH and some retard in front of me decides to throw out a freakin Energy drink can out of his car and it bounces 2 times on the ground before it hit my car. So now I'm pissed after I hear a big KANK! off of my car. I'm like no F***ING WAY! So this guy starts speeding and exits on the next exit. I chase after him and we were on a red light so I had the chance to write down his plate number and description of his car. I just start honking my ass off at him and he ignores and then I rev my engine a bit he still ignores. Light turns green and he bones out with his ghetto little Ford truck and I'm thinking in my head.. "Well this is going to be easy.." So I floor it off the light too all I wanted was to get a good look at his face and let him know I wrote down his plate number. Ironically enough the street turns out to be a mile long straight stretch and I'm just like "YES! I got you now b*tch!" I get a good look at his face and show him his plate number and then give him the finger. He pulls a sudden left turn and I just pulled over to see the damage to my car. Now there are huge scrapes on my car. I expected less damage from a energy drink can, guess not. (I'm guessing the can was half full when he threw it out.)

I called my dad to see what I should do. I'm thinking file a police report. He says dont do it as it isn't worth the time to go to court over these things. Anyone can give me some insight on what would happen if I did file a report. If there are no benefits and its just a waste of time I'd rather not even bother. Thanks.

report it and try to get your money.

once a cop knocks on his door his tune might change.

also get a quote, and if he won't pay without going to court then make the decision, oh and a strong thret of court may loosen his wallet

Just a waste of time. Once a car stopped in front of my house and I thought he was just looking to get info on buying the house(house was for sale) but instead he threw a rock at my car. I ran out the house got in my car and pursued to chase him. In the end the cops didn't do squat, but lucky I had his license plate number and got information on him. Haven't paid a visit to him he'll get something coming to him

edit

Reason I didn't catch him I ran out of gas after chasing him down after 2 cities.

File a report and make a claim with your insurance. Thats what it is there for, they will fight for you.

If the guy is smart, he can just deny everything. It'll be your word against his. Your only best bet is if he gets spooked after he sees cops at his door and just tells the truth. Not really much you can do as court would be pointless as well. You need witnesses or it's just your word against his as I have stated.
