File the police report then file a claim with the insurance company.
just go with that. and although harder said than done, best to let it go. imagine if the guy happend to be crazier than you. i wouldnt want to lose my life over a soda can.

in the end, everyone is jerk to everyone else, the only thing you can control is how you choose to react to the situation

file a report. don't forget to include the description of the driver. that will do it.

Even if the cops won't do anything your insurance will. If the damage is under the deductable then you will have to suck it up, but if it is over then your insurance will try to get thier money back for sure.

You do have proof you have a licence number and you have a description of the vehicle and the driver. That can't be a coincidence. Call the cops to see if they will do anything and if not then call your insurance.
Having the license plate number, the description of the car and its driver does not prove any wrongdoing or liability on the other party. They will simply argue that you randomly picked a car and wrote down its plate number to hold someone responsible for existing damages on your car.

What you need is someone who can corroborate your story. Did you have a passenger with you when this happened? If not, after you noted the other car's plates, you could have asked other drivers who may have seen him flinging the can out of his truck.

Checking his prints on the can is just going too far although some people would do it just to make a point.

I think you'll end up fixing the car on your own.

sometimes when you think you got the law on your side the other person also has his belief that he's got the law on his side. give it a try maybe you'll get lucky. anway you should't follow too close wherein you can't avoid anything falling/or being run over up ahead.

A guy in a lexus gs300 once tried to race me (i was in fathers R32) so i used LC and ripped him.. apparently he didnt like that so he threw a glass vodka bottle at my car (luckily there was room to swerve). If i wasnt in a rush to get to a girls house, i had enough rage to chase him down the whole GSP
