fresh air setting on climate control
i've heard that the coming from the hot "fresh air" setting is actually engine heat. is this necessarily good to keep it at this setting or is it better to keep it on the cold setting? are there even any benefits at all keeping this fresh air vent open? or is it better to keep it closed? just a curioius question...
When the heat is turned on it is actually heat from combustion gases.
It will not hurt your car in anyway to keep this setting on, however if you keep the temp. on hot, hot air will filter through despite the fans being turned off.
Also the "fresh air" button doesn't need to be turned on for this to occur. Both will send you heat from your engine, where do you think the heat comes from??

Combustion gasses inside the heater core

The engine coolant acts as the transfer medium from the block to the heater core.
That's like saying the engine charges the battery
Our cars generate heat into the cockpit directly from the heater core via the radiator. Of course the radiator radiates heat away from the engine block, that's just common sense
