Okay, here's more in depth information into his situation. I didn't really put that much detail into his situation. And for everybody that said they weren't trying to sound condescending, I in no way would ever think that is how any of you are trying to sound.

Anyway, my friend is 17 and just graduated high school this past school year. He is now taking classes at the local community college, and works every night from 5-10 at UPS for $8.50 an hour. Like I said before, this is only his second or third week at the job. He can get a raise as soon as he passes an exam/test that he can take as soon as he gets out of his training for the job. This raise will bump him up to $9.50-$10 and hour.

He bought the S2000 used off of a Dodge lot. He received a pre-approved loan for $24K, and found the car for $19.9K. He made a $1K down payment on the S2000 with the trade-in that he got on an old Ford Probe that had been sitting in his drive-way for almost a year now with a thrown rod. As I said before, his monthly payment is/around $480 a month.

His mother is helping him out with the insurance issue. She made a deal with him that if he let her drive the car for two weeks, she would pay for his insurance. Thankfully, he doesn't have to pay for that, because if he did, he'd be... screwed, for lack of a better word.

And for ZoomZoomS2, here are some pictures of the car that we took about two days after he got it.

I think I could safely write an ending to this story right now.

i dont know, i say more power to him. im 20 years old, and i work part time cuz i go to school full time. i make about 10bux an hour but its almost been a year now and i can still afford my car payment, plus insurance, plus cell phone, gas, and credit card bills without the help of anyone else. because you can do anything you put ur mind to it. ive been workin since i was 16 years old. and since then i bought a 97 maxima, a 2002 honda civic, and now the S2000. although i no longer have the maxima and civic, but i was determined. sometimes i ask myself, is this for real? how am i doin all this? but i manage my money well. and when i graduate from college, i figure ill have a better job then making my payments will be nothing. i also pay 3300 in insurance a year. also, i bought with my own money a 1100 jic exhaust, and payed 1100 for a toda header too. im even hookin up the car. i guess its good i dont have to pay rent cuz i live under my parents roof. but im just very fortunate, but also i do work my ass off. i think about my bills before i think about anything else. most young people like me get payed, and blow their whole check away, but i first pay off my car bills, and then see what i have to work with. even if its not alot, i can survive. ive been doin it for many years. in conclusion, i say to ur friend the best of luck, but u will have some rough roads here and there.

Something doesn't add up here. The car cost $19,900 total. Then he paid $1000 down. Then he traded in a Ford Probe($1500 guestimate?) So the total post trade and down payment was $17,400 approximately. His payments are $480 a month for 4 years? He must have gotten a horrible interest rate. His payments should be way less than $400/month. But if he can afford it, his perogative.

My suggestion for his first mod is to open a savings account and save any left over money every month to bail him out when he can't afford the payment that month. Seriously.
