I don't think there ever was a definite answer to the question of overheating with a grill in place. I know that several people said they never saw over 3 bars with a grill mounted, but I'm not sure how that relates to engine compartment temperature, since we all know that the intake air temp gets very high when the engine is running and the car is not in motion. There were several threads discussing that temperature difference and the insulation people added to minimize it. However, I don't think that was addressed in conjunction with the grill.

I have a Coastal Metals grill but have not installed it because I think it would be too restrictive for the desert-area tracks we run on around here. The grill on my XKR has much larger openings and I've been trying to find one similar to it. I've ordered a Grillcraft grill and, as I promised on another thread, will report on it soon with closeup photos of the two grills.

I brought this entire issue up regarding airflow and front grill with an OBDII test on my car earlier this year. And, no, this issue was/is not resolved. One of the manufacturers of an S2000 front grill did a test and his results coincide with mine, but these grills still sell like hot cakes.

I've explained this before so I will not explain it again, but to put it in one sentence... with a stock setup, just because you do not ever see four bars with a front grill on your S2000 does not mean your S2000 is not running hotter than without grill.

I personally think those that put the front grill on are retards, but to each his own.

Ed, I'm guessing that's Dennis' grill you have? I tried to find one because it looked like it might permit higher airflow, but couldn't.
