Default front under spoiler, side strakes and trunk spoiler ...

front under spoiler, side strakes and trunk spoiler from honda ... let me guess ... they are for show only?
how will a front under spoiler help?
what about a rear spoiler? will that helps a little in preventing spin out?

It helps by scooping up roadkill and discarding it to the side of the road. . .

Actually, I like the way the front spoiler looks and had one on order but later canceled because I know I'll just scrape the thing everywhere I go!

I believe it was stated that the design was based on actual aerodynamic testing by Honda...at least that is what I told my wife to justify my purchase in the current group buy!!! If anyone is interested, Group Buy currently in progress!!

(No really, I did see it on the Honda site. Will it really affect your driving or mine...come on! But it sure looks good!

There are much more effective rear spoilers out there that will give you better downforce on the back. The honda rear spoiler is more for show than functionality.

stockae92,

The front spoiler is the only one I have installed (I purchased all of them) and the reason was due to scratches.

The front end of the s2k is low enough that I have scraped the bumper a few times. It is much cheaper to replace the front spoiler than have the bumper painted.

I also happen to think that it adds to the sportiness of the s2k.

I bought mine with the front and rear spoilers only. I'm still not sure about the side strakes, personally, and am even less excited about them after reading multiple owners complaints about the big, ol' nasty holes in the side of their cars left by having them removed.

I don't know where, but I recall seeing some Honda literature where in Honda states that the three pieces were created with improving aerodynamics in mind. Supposedly, the three pieces together not only decrease coefficient of drag but they also improve the cars road holding.

they improve aerodynamics only on the race track at high speed. for street use, we cannot get high enough speed( at least legally) to notice any improvement. so for practicaly purposes, they are strictly for show.

Could someone please elaborate on the "huge holes" in the car after removing the side strakes? I have a Berlina Black with every option and aftermarket piece (bought it that way), including the side strakes and I hate them. I think it destroys the simplicity of line on the side. I love the front spoiler and the rear is tolerable but I want to remove the sides. Does it leave holes in the sheet metal or just underneath, wheel well area? Please advise before I go taking things apart.

NomadS2000,

Don't take them off yet!

There is one hole on each side of the car drilled directly through your paint / sheet metal. The best way for you to determine the exact impact would be go to the dealer and ask for a copy of the side strake installation instructions.

I have the instructions at home and once I saw that you couldn't take them off without repairing the hole (think truck spoiler that has holes in the deck lid vs front chin spoiler that uses existing bolts to install) I decided to skip the installation of the side strakes.

Good luck, but I think you will need some bondo and a paint shop if you want them off!

Got all the options thrown in for free, so I'm not complaining ...
