hopefully newbes can learn from our experiences. we should add this to the list of things to remember when picking up the car! i too did not believe that you couldn't top it off and did it once... once with gas gushing over the side of your car is enough! i have never had another car that did this, but ours sure does- dont think that the fuel guard would have been enough to keep the gas off of the car in that situation.

Hmmm...I have had my car for over a year with 40+ fill-ups and have not had a problem topping off. I must have missed past posts on this cuz I don't remember the problem as common knowledge.

There was a post not long ago about someone's fuel gauge not maxing out after a fill-up. I have actually been trying to put more and more gas in. Never a problem with overfilling yet, but our fancy eco-nozzles in CA might shut off the flow before it's a problem. I have gotten a drip or two in the fueling compartment, but never even a drop on the fender.

For future reference, can somebody please more completely describe the effects they have seen of topping off an S2K? Is there any warning? Is it with a particular type of fueling nozzle? Thanks much!

Yes, pretty much any attempt to top off will result in overflow. I also had one traumatic experience with a pump that didn't shut off at all.

Here a a couple of shots of the Fuel Guard:

It works well at catching drips, but doesn't completely channel overflow beyond the fender.
