Default Fuel indicator trouble

I just filled up my gas tank today and then I stopped to get food but when i started up again i was down to 3/4ths of a tank. I was wondering if something was leakingor something. But then when I started it back up about 20 minutes later it showed the original almost full tank again. Same thing happened where it said that I was empty and I went to fill up and it said I bought 10 gallons when the fuel tank is 13.2 gallons.

Were you parked on an incline? I know when I park in my garage which has a VERY slight incline, I'd say less than 2-5 degrees it will make my gas gauge read 1-2 bars higher.

cold weather???

happened to me.

i took a long trip and five minutes before i got the Hotel i filled up. I valet the car and the next morning when i was leaving i saw i had 2 bar left. (From Full) man i was pissed, i bitched and bitched and called management and reported that someone used my car overnight, i even had my receipt from the gas station and theirs and it showed a 5 minute difference. i went to fill up my car after the big drama and it said full. i was confused. and felt like an as$.

Oh man haha.

I guess it would have been cold weather if thats what was affecting it. I just bought the car yesterday and I was worried that I might have some sort of leak or if the car really ate this much gas. There had to be something wrong with it because no way I drove it that hard after filling up.

Thanks for the feedback I'm glad I'm not the only one. But yeah it sounds like a pain since it happened to me twice and I was really worried about it.

dont worry. its just the cold weather, it took a few days for mine to fix up, it has now been 8 months and no more problems.

How did it "fix up"? The owner before me lives where I live and he says that he has never encountered this problem. And I've run across it twice within a day.
