Default Fuel Level

I had heard rumors that if you keep driving with the gas light on it increases wear on the fuel pump. Any truth to this? How many miles can you go when the fuel light comes on?

P.S. How the heck do I change my profile from Enthusiast to Owner btw?

I have heard that fuel pump's do work harder when you're low and it does make since. When I had my prelude I did notice it would take the starter a bit longer to start the motor when it was low, but I've never noticed this in the S. I've never heard of anyone (with S2k's) having any issue with fuel pump failing because of this reason. However I have a few friends with SR20's and they religiously will not go under 1/4 tank b/c of this reason. As far as how many miles you can go after the light comes on depends on how you drive. I have run out of gas once but how many miles I went since the light came on was the last thing on my mind.

Go to "MyS2K & Setting", then edit profile info. Once you enter your car info there is should change.

my first fill up (to answer my own thread for myself) was right after the last bar disappeared, about 15 miles after the fuel light came on.

I let the light come on routinely. My daily commute makes it so that I use up every bit of fuel until the last drop.

I know that with respect to LS1 Cam/birds the fuel pump is explicitly cooled by the fuel in the tank. Thusly, when you run out of gas the pump dies.

This may be where that line of thinking comes from.

I fill up at around 1/4th of a tank. I would rather choose exactly where I want to fill up and always have enough fuel than run until the indicator comes on.
