My fill ups are consistently between 9.5 and 10.5 gallons with miles between 220 and 240. Once I managed to run the tank down enough to require a 12 gallon fill. I don't generally like to push it that far though.

I never fill up past 1/2 of a tank, so I normally get gas when the light comes on.

I try to fill up around 1/4 of a tank, mostly because the gauge is so inaccurate within that range. Otherwise I would run it lower.

This is good info to know. I never would have thought it would be a problem going low like that and putting some more stress on the fuel pump.

Once the light comes on I try to make a stop the next time I pass one of the cheaper priced gas stations that I pass on my regular route.

Note I said cheaper price, not quality. I fill up Chevron and I know 4 that are regularly cheaper than any others.

I let it go down to the light once on the racetrack (road course, not drag racing) because the gauge isn't very accurate when you're at WOT all the time. Didn't run out though.

Generally though I fill up around 1/4th.

Have you noticed the last three fuel gauge bars disappear much more quickly than any other three bars? Yet, I can drive at least 25 miles once all the bars are gone and still be able to put only 11 gallons in the tank.
