Good post, now I can stop stressing so much when I forget to fill her up, wake up late for work and realise I only have one bar left.

Not that I've been able to determine. I've run mine down to ZERO bars and the car continued to drive normally.

Strange, I have an 05 as well and have not noticed that issue on the gauge.
BTW, I was able to pull 345 miles with a tank.

I averaged over 30mpg when driving an AP2 somewhat mildly. 150mi trip on backroads (alternating between towns and 55mph limits...never drove much more than 10mph over). I got into the VTEC crossover probably 10+ times on the trip, but other than that treated the car nicely...

As long as the fuel level's not so low that it sucking air, there's no reason why is would make any difference.

The primary way to get good fuel economy is keep your foot out the radiator. Your owners manual gives recommended shift points to maximize fuel economy. On my '04 model, I've found they work very well which surprised me because the last manual transmissioned car I owned, as well as several motorcycles, recommended shifting way too early in my opinion.

I generally shift between 3000 and 3500 rpms and I'm not accelerating hard in the mean time. I don't feel like I'm poking along either, I keep up with traffic for the most part but I try real hard not to keep pushing down on the gas peddle when the person next to me at that red light seems to be insisting on being in front. If they want it that bad, they can have it. It's not that big a deal.

Of course, there are other factors. I rarely drive in straight city traffic. I consider that at least 40% of my fuel burn is on the highway so my numbers are probably a little high compared to someone who spends 90% of their time on neighborhood streets or their equivalent. Still, at 20 city and 25 highway EPA estimates, I've consistently gotten way better than that. I don't really understand why but I'm not asking questions either!

Drive Safe,
Steve R.
