Default A Fuzzbuster Cord Solution.........

I can't pass along a picture but will explain this best I can. Someone may have already passed it along, but I'll just do it one more time. I found is best to stretch the cord down and run behind the little cargo net clasp in upper left corner on passenger side and then stretch the cord as I tucked it under the console lip along the passenger side, bringing it out to the cigarette lighter under the glove box. I've got a Escort 8500 which I highly recommend to those in need of a detector, although these new ones that defeat the radar from detecting you do look interesting.

I just used a black phone cord from my house, tested the wires, and ran it to the auxiliary spot in the fuse panel under the drivers side dash. I have the detector mounted just under my rear view mirror, so when i take the detector out, just tuck the cord up into the trim at the top of the windshield, with just the jack sticking out so you can grab it and plug it in again! Simple solution, and no need to pay $20 or $30 for Escorts Hardwire Kit.

ruexp67, can you give some detail how yours is installed by the dome light? I have thought about moving mine, just can't quite find the "perfect" place.

I just tucked my cord for my V1 under the center console like you described. Works fine for me.

Yeah I hardwired my 8500 the first night I had my car. It took me about 30 min from start to finish. The cord cost about $10 for the regular cord and I think $30 for the smart cord. All you have to do is find a ground and an ignigtion wire.

Here's another idea- Hardwire the detector into the power for the dome lights. I snapped out the lens to the dome light, take out the two screws holding in the assembly, and then find twelve volts positive & use ground for negative. A voltohmeter does this fine. Keep in mind that the power is NOT switched by the key, so don't leave the RCVR on for two or three days w/o car running. Run the power cord above the strip of headliner, and come out against the windshield. Then the escort can be mounted behind the mirror. You can get a power cord (so you don't have to cut the Escort cord) from Radio Shack. Write me if I can help you...

I can't tell from your pic where the cord goes from the detector. I'm about to order a MY04 and my dealer told me that they hardwire the detector cord through the windshield frame. Has anyone done this or have any opinions??

BTW I didn't ask what they would charge for that.
