Jeff, I wouldn't pay anyone to do it. Not that hard to do and you can get some "bonding" time in with the new car lol.

It's just a black phone cord so you can either take the moulding off, or just tuck it under the moulding. I'm sure thats what the dealer ment.

Mine goes up the windshield post and across the top of the frame and out the front. I just poped off the trim and taped it to the metal frame, then found wires to tap into under the dash. You do have to unscrew some stuff (sunvisor and light assemply) to get the top piece of trim loose. It was simple, like I said took about 30 min. The hardest part was finding a wire to hook into that I could get to without having to untape the collections of wires.

I used the Passport "smartcord" setup. I am using the suction cup mount to the windshield. The cord is run under the headrail, down the driver's side a-pillar and down to the aux connection on the fuse panel as mentioned above. You can also click the link in my sig for more info.

BTW -- If you go all the way down to the fuse panel you can make it so the detector turns on and off with the car. If you go off of the dome light it's on all the time.

I can't pass along a picture but will explain this best I can. Someone may have already passed it along, but I'll just do it one more time. I found is best to stretch the cord down and run behind the little cargo net clasp in upper left corner on passenger side and then stretch the cord as I tucked it under the console lip along the passenger side, bringing it out to the cigarette lighter under the glove box. I've got a Escort 8500 which I highly recommend to those in need of a detector, although these new ones that defeat the radar from detecting you do look interesting.

Mine is mounted with silicone to an acrylic block. I use an xl loop hd velcro lock to secure it. the line runs in the trough along the windshield. Easy to use. good visibility for the unit, better actually for laser as it's closer to where they aim.

I also run

I also run thier lidar package wihich is a very effective laser defense. my remote mute etc is mounted lower left side of the dash.

Isn't their lidar unit a stand-alone product as well? Meaning it will work whether it is hooked up to the 8500 or not?

If so, you do not need to have the 8500 mounted so low. The ZR-3 has its own detection circuitry right where you want it.
