ARGHHHH. I have the spun aluminum Voodoo knob and it is MUCH worse than the stock aluminum knob. I have tried top up, top down, top down + car cover, experimenting with windows up/down/cracked, and nothing has kept the knob at a bearable temperature after 4hrs of parking.

Nearly everyday, I drive home with a sock over the knob so that i can shift. I have considered the Ti Voodoo knob, but there is a split consensus over whether it makes any difference.

You guys make me laugh - try the UK if you wanna moan about the bloody weather!

Try a cold knob in the winter (oo-er missus!) if you really want the blues!

Simpler than car covers. Highly recommended.
I agree with NSX, sunshade, top up, windows down or slightly cracked....I have forgotten how hot the shift knob gets. I have used the sunshade with the top down as well. It seems to help when facing into the sun.

Hmmm hot shift knob. I remedy this with a sock that i keep in the car, and just cover it whenever I get out, and sometimes keep it on when i'm driving. It's not a fancy shift knob sock, it's a plain, low-cut sport sock. As for the seat... I have two white t-shirts that I keep over the backs. It looks pretty nice if you ask me. They're like undershirts, so they have large neck openings which allow the headrest portion to stick out a little. It may not be the coolest, or best way to deal with the sun, but hey it's not that expensive.. and it works for me =)

My solution: Momo leather/aluminum Air Race. Sits a little lower, nicer grip, & no burning! A little lock-tite solves the criticism about Momo's set-screw mount.

I snuck out of work this afternoon to run to the mall. I was in for about an hour. Before I went in, I put the top up and installed the sunshade.

I get back into the car and reach up to unhook the latches for the top. HOLY FIRE AND BRIMSTONE BATMAN THOSE LATCHES WERE HOT! Of course the shift knob was equally hot, but by the time I put it in gear, I had already lost the outer layer of skin, so no worries.

Sometimes when I am feeling mean and I have a passenger I will say something like, "Feel how cool it is when the tranny drops into reverse... you gotta push down on the shifter." Then when there hand touches the shifter I put my hand on top and hold thier hand down! *evil grin*

Seriously... It is a big probem for me also. Using a window screen doesn't really help. From what I can tell the black top absorbs the heat and in return heats the air inside the car. It turns the cockpit into a convection oven!

I usually keep a hat under the seat and use it when it is unbearable. My suggestion is the someone build a Cold Air Intake from our AC to blow on the shift knob
