Cool! Thanks that's nice to know. I thought someone told me the opposite? Maybe i'll consider downshifting.

your brakes may last longer by downshifting, but your clutch won't. Which costs more to replace - brakes or clutch?

Downshifting is something I do in my car when there is a stop up ahead, but I have a ways to go before stopping, such as entering a town, or a long exit ramp. I also do it just for fun sometimes, rather than just braking like normal.

I don't think it does anything good for your clutch to hold the pedal down to the floor for an extended period of time, but I've never had to replace one due to "clutch spring failure," either, so that probably isn't an issue unless your leg gets tired.

Please take some advice. GO TO A DRIVING SCHOOL! Or at the very least, find someone who has extensive experience driving stick to give you a few lessons in person, in your car. You can
