Default getting confused with DBW?

to my knowledge DBW does not use standard throttle cable right? and is controlled electronically but why is it named drive by WIRE when there isn't? or is there?

I believe theres still a wire coming out of a box on the throttle body. Theres just no 'throttle cable'. Not exactly sure though...

wire = electronics wiring.

drive by electronics versus mechanical linkage.

If it was called DBC then you should be confused.

You misunderstood the electronic wire with wire cable.

It's all good.

The gas pedal sends a signal to either a box that pulls a small cable or right to the throttle body with a electric motor like my old sentra spec v had.

Um, there is a wire (it's not wirelessly transmitted). There's not a cable. Just like fly by wire http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Aircraft_flig...control_systems.

Actually, Wikipedia even has a DBW page: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drive_by_wire

Nobody's really explained it so far. Buncha noobs

You can follow it yourself. Ever look at your car and trace it?

Pedal pulls a cable that goes to a black actuator box on the left side of your engine bay. The actuator turns the analog (cable) signal to voltage which is sent to the computer. The computer does what it does (VSA, cruise control, etc.) and sends electrical signal to another actuator on the throttle body. A little motor turns that voltage into how much to open the butterfly.
