A blow dryer won't be hot enough, try a heat gun. Have someone apply the heat while another tries loosening the knob. It may take several heatings and coolings to work it off.

Previous owner put loctite on my shift lever too..

What I did was cut the shift boot (bought a T1R shift boot, it's a direct replacement for OEM) then removed and replaced the shift lever with one I bought from someone parting out a s2k (i think I paid ~$50, IIRC they are under $100 new from the dealer).

While you are at it, do the DIY shifter regrease

IIRC red Loctite turns loose at 550°F. (That's about 288°C for you Canucks). Be Careful with that torch.

Heat gun might get it done if you used blue loctite, but a torch will probably be needed if you used red.

I used blue. I might consider buying a new linkage if it doesn't work out. Thanks for the help boys.

P.S. Don't put too much loctite on peeps.

Add a strap wrench to my list of what I tried above. Didn't even budge the knob, and felt like it started twisting the linkage underneath.

with everyone, heat it up, only way. if it were a normal bolt, i'd put it in boiling water. hair dryer, soldering iron, heat gun, blow torch in that order imo

Blow torch will be key. Hair dryer is not even close to hot enough. Loctite is some strong stuff! Or as someone else mentioned can cut shift boot off and pull console over and remove entire shifter lever out to put it in s vice or something.
