Getting pulled over
It really makes you wonder what goes through the minds of some our police. This moring around 1:30, I was headed home on Rt 7. I came upon a cop who in my opinion was asleep. The reason I say this is because when my headlights hit his car his expression reminded me of a deer who stepped in front of a car.
Anyway I passed him doing about 50. About a 1/4 mi down the road behind me I see headlights. I slowed to about 40. Sure enough it was him. He rolled up along my right side then got in behind me and hit the lights. I pulled over and shut the car down. He walks up to the car and said the reason he pulled me over was because my exhaust was illegal (violation 462-1049) in the commonwealth of VA.
Standard questions were asked, how long have I owned the car, how long has the exhaust been on the car and if I had ever been pulled over because of it. I have never been pulled over for my exhaust. Anyway he never asked for my registration just my license. I figured he would have at least asked for both since the car is registered in ND and my license is from NV.
He issued me a warning and recommended that I remove the exhaust. I did not read it until I got home. That's when I discovered he listed the car as a coupe instead of convertible... I can overlook that because I have a hardtop. But for my race he wrote down "W". Now my car is black and so is the interior. So my question is was he awake? Because the last time I checked, I was black!

arent all after market exhaust, or most of them c.a.r.b legal (all 50 states legal) ???
i would have said that if i was there....then see what he responds with and gone from there.
the cop must have had somethin going on if he got that much info/procedure wrong...

typical racial profiling, white cop and black driver. Get Johnny Cochran and sue the hell out of the police department.
From the sound of it, he could have been given a ticket. He was let off with a warning. End of story.

I've lived in VA for almost 7 yrs now. I also own a tricked out C4 Vette which I brought back from Germany. It has a fully built Agostino 396 in it. The exhaust on it is insane... never a problem with local police. Also, the Vette used to be my daily driver until I bought the S. It seems that here in N. VA you always here about the cops pulling over the import cars for having a loud exhaust or big wing, but what about the Mustangs/Vettes/Vipers/TA's/Camaro's? We all know what a pair of flowmasters on a 5.0 sound like. Also I'm curious to see what sorta system are most of you running?

I think they need higher education requirements for Virginia cops
