Default Glove Box 'Separation Anxiety'

Hello All -

Has anyone successfully taken apart the 'glove box' lid? It looks like it could be separated into two pieces, the outer lid with the lock mechanism, and an 'inner' lid. It certainly appears that it is made of two pieces anyway, and hopefully hollow. The reason I ask is that I am looking to secure my iPod to the inside of the lid. I want to then hardwire the power cord to the power outlet, and headphone cord down to my HU underneath the console cover. Instead of having the wires go along the sides of the iPod, I want it to be cleaner looking - By drilling two small holes on the inner portion of the lid, and run the wires inside the lid (perhaps along the sides where it appears to be thicker) down to the hinge area. I want to have the iPod facing forward when the lid is flipped open, and right-side up when the lid is closed.

Thanks so much for any assistance any of you could provide. I would post this in the electronics forum, but I thought one of you may have 'cracked open' the lid perhaps for other reasons. I use the term 'cracked open' rather reticently here - I don't want to 'crack' or otherwise damage anything here!

Thanks again!

I don't know about the door construction. But the idea sounds cool. iPod rocks.

Dunno if this thread helps you much, but it looks like Rick is the guy to ask. It seems he's been pretty up close and personal with that lid!!
