Default Going from MR2t to S2K

Hey guys, I will be selling my 91 MR2t very soon and was wondering if moving onto an S2K will dissapoint me performance wise. I drove an S2K about 2 years ago and loved it but that was before all of the work on my MR2 was done.

I am pretty set on buying an S2000, but the reasons are for the warranty, reliability, great looks and a decent performer, not because it is crazy fast. I just want to know if it will be a large step backwards performance wise.

My 91 MR2t has the following:

Exterior
Custom Audi Misano Red Pearl Effect mixed with Candy Apple
Border front bumper
TOMs sides
Shaved badges
Diamond cut clear corners

Performance
CT20b turbo
Aussie 3" DP
HKS Intake
HKS SS BOV
HKS TPI
HKS EVC4
HKS FCD
Greddy SP
TRD Clutch
TRD Shifter + knob
Powder coated red valve cover

Suspension
Enkei RP01's 17x8 front 17x9 rear
Kuhmo 712's 215/40 front 255/40 rear (85% left)
Splinedrive Lugnuts
Tokico 5ways
Eibach Springs
Suspension Tech F+R Sway bars
TRD Bushings

Interior
HKS TT
Greddy white faced boost gauge
Greddy A-pillar gauge pod
Blaupunkt Munchen HU
Sony 10 Disc Changer
Alpine V12 4ch Amp
JL 5 1/4 + 1" Components doors
RF 4" coax rear
Alpine Alarm
MR2 stiched floor mats

Pictures of before and after paint, these pictures do not do this car justice, it is one of the best looking cars I have ever seen. People ask me all the time if its a Ferrari.

After looking at your mods and pics, I believe that you will feel like the STOCK S2000 is less of a machine. But if you did the same mods to the S2000, then you will have a better car.

I do plan on adding coilovers and upper + lower strut bars to the S2K along with larger rims and tires fairly soon after purchase

is that a ferrari?

If you love the car so much - keep it! you certainly aren't going to make all the mod money back on selling it.

I know I will not make even close to what I spent on it back, that is not the point of building sports cars. I am selling it because it has 130k miles, I am tired of fixing broken parts and I dont enjoy the car for what it is. I am too worried about paint chips and if some idiot is going to hit it with their door. I just graduated college so I want something that will not give me a headache.

With those modifications to your MR2, it will be a huge step backwards to expect a S2000 to be competitive in acceleration or handling.

That is a beautiful MR2. My brother is buying one soon, I've driven a few... what an amazing car for its time.

The S2000 might let you down with all you've done to that car. You'll have to mod this thing quite a bit to get it anywhere close to the same levels as that MR2 Turbo.

OEM paint on a stock bumper vs aftermarket on fiberglass. I dont care what people say, unless you spend about $7k+ on paint and strip the car to the frame, it will never be as good as the OEM paint job.

Door dings are a problem no matter what, so yes I will still be cautious where I park it.
