You are forgetting one factor, a MR2 weighs in at just over 2000 lbs, and with all the modifications to his car the HP is pretty close to that of a stock S2000.

Do the math.

91-92 MR2T is around 2700lb... with his mod. running ~15 psi it should at least be running ~220-230 rwhp ...

I think that we are missing one big point about this whole thing. The intangibles, like the enjoyment of driving a new car, the enjoyment of a convertible, the enjoyment of having people look at you with amazement. Also there are the matainence issues with the MR2 that could be eliminated with a warranty from Honda. He will always be anal about the paint job and dings. So if you look at it that way, then the S2000 will definately be the way to go. I believe that although he won't get much more out of a stock S2000 performance wise, he will really enjoy owning an S2000 more than he enjoys owning the MR2.

I agree that the S2000 will most likely accelerate slower than the MR2t. But depending on your personal tastes, the actual enjoyment of driving the car could very well be much greater. I test drove a '93 MR2t a while back and really enjoyed it - if you like your current car I predict you'd enjoy the experience of an S2000 much more so than something along the lines of, say, a Z06.

BltByKrmn - You have to keep in mind that S2000 and the MR2T are both great cars but with totally different temper... except maybe the snap oversteer

In terms of handling the Mr2 and S2000 are nearly twins.

Both like to bring the rear end out, both will do it in a snap and both spin around the center-line.

I also have an MR2 Turbo & I'm buying Lil Raja's spa 02 S2000 next Friday. Please see this post for more info about my test drive:

I'm also keeping the MR2 (150,000 miles). It's too much fun & gets too many compliments for me to sell it.

Thanks for the info guys.

I also like the tendancy to oversteer, I feel it has made me a much better driver. My MR2 has only tried to come around on me once and it was my fault. The tires were cold, the road was cold and I shifted in the middle of a right turn. The back came out to the left 90 degrees, I over-corrected so it came out to the right 90deg and it went back and forth like that a few times. I didnt hit anything or spin completely but it was enough to scare me.

Selling the MR2 is a necessary evil. I have a 1992 Oldsmobile as a daily driver that is more reliable than time and I am also trying to save money so I can move to California next June.

As I've said before, an S2000 may not be the fastest or most powerful, but it surely is the best handling and most fun-to-drive car out there. It's a pure, top-down, awesomely fun, racing roadster.
