That's funny. You have the same logic I did when I was looking for a sports car. I looked at a Boxster, Corvette, SLK Sport, and a Z3. The S2000 had the best cost to newness ratio... although the Boxster was my favorite.

I have had multiple offers of $10k for my MR2, there is now way I am in a position right now (just out of college) to turn that down.

Well... don't look at it like that. Look at it in this way. You are fresh out of college, with probably no property and no car payment.

Get your property first (I'm assuming you already have a good job), some nice furniture for your crib, save a little for your nest egg, and then get your ride.

I graduated in 2000, and it only took me 2.5 years to do that. I bought my S2000 last Jan.

BltByKrmn - as a S2K enthusiast and a current MR2T owner I will give you my 2 cents

You are still going to have to live with snap oversteer. Chassis wise, the S2K is better than the MR2T and not to mention there is a 10 years gap of technology between them.

Transmission - Much better shifter. Comes with LSD... However there are still synchro problem from early models. (Please correct me if I got this wrong. thx ) Prob. not as bad as early 91-92 MR2T

Drivability - really depends.
Braking ability - they are mostly equal since the MR2T can stop with 107ft from 60-0 mph... Although its already 10+ years old

S2K is a true open air motoring machine.

Looking at your mod. ...
Speed wise is a step back.
Handling wise is a step up actually. S2000 is probably easier to drive just out of the box. Brake bias and weight distribution on the MR2T does make it a more difficult car to master at the limit.

But nastinupe1 has a very good point!
