Default is this a good deal or talk them down?

I'm in the market right now for an S2000 as for my daily driver and i found this 2003 with only 30,xxx miles, clean title, one owner and was a lease vehicle and adult owned, i went to check out the car and test drove it and everything seems fine, the soft-top is free of any tears/rips and the interior is i would say about 9/10 except for a minor 1-inch scratch on the dash which is unheardly recognizable..

now the dealer is askin 16,975 for the vehicle and the KBB.com says that the car is worth atleast 18,340 for suggested retail value.

Should i talk them down or buy it as is.. here is the link for photos of the said vehicle..

link for photos

any comments suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

I'd offer $9999.99 OTD and see what say.

If they say no, increase the offer by $0.01 until they say yes.

If you're patient you could find that same car for $15k or less from a private party. If you're not or have a trade and need to buy a car from a dealer I'm sure you could talk them down to $16k easily.

BTW, the vin listed on the link you posted checks out fine with Autocheck. One owner with no problems.

i see ap2's (04-05's mostly) going for almost the same price. i'd much rather get a ap2 w/ more miles.

That's the price of an 05 privately really. Keep looking or get it for like 13 or less.

Sounds like a nice car, but the price is a bit high for my area. In May, I paid $16.5k for my '02 with 5k miles on it (private sale though). A friend of mine recently paid $16.9k for an '04 with 12k miles (also private sale). Both were single-owner cars, clean title with no accidents.

I know a guy locally who picked up an 02 w/ 40k miles with Volk CE28, Mugen header & exhaust for $13.5k...from a dealer.

$18K is a lot for that car. The mileage is good but the car is 7 years old. Tell them you won't pay that...trust me they won't let you walk.
