Default good to pass 100 mph?!?!

tonite i was feeling bored so i took my s2k out for a spin at about 1:30 am in the morning, anyways there weren't alot of cars out, so i decided to gun it and i hit about 108 mph for about a few seconds, then i smelled a lil burnt smell....is it bad to go over like to 100-110 for a few seconds, it wasn't even close to a minute i kno that for sure.. any insight into this newbie question would help thanks!

I'm sure it's fine for the car, but don't forget, we're in the United States. I could be that your liscense started to get warm!

A car like the S2000 can live at plus-100MPH speeds all day without strain, provided you are in Europe on the Autobahn! Nothing should be burning simply because you're going fast, so like MattG said, make sure your foot is completely off the clutch pedal when you're not shifting. Can't think of any other cause unless your clutch was worn and starting to slip, in which case you'd feel the engine revving without the car responding properly.

Two things come to mind. 1) If your clutch is worn, high speed driving (high load with high power output) could cause clutch slippage. 2) If there is oil/grud in the engine bay, this could have been blown onto the exhaust at high speed giving you that smell.
