I just got a YELLOW (for my Rio) Weathershield from Griot's. I love it. It is totally water and weatherproof, and yet it is not bulky at all. I really like the extras that Griot adds to his cover, even though it is made by someone else for him. There is the pocket for the stubby antenna, the red vinyl tab to locat the left vs. right side, the stensil of the car with an arrow showing forward, and the lifetime warranty. I tried to get the same cover from covercraft for my Jag S type R and it does not have all the features...now I am spoiled and can't do without them. I had a Griots cover for my NSX for 2 years and it wore like iron in Fla. Highly highly recommended if the purpose is outdoor use.

the weathershield material you're referring to, is the "StormWeave" correct?

All I can tell you is it's pretty thin like nylon, comes in more colors than most covers and blows like a son of a bitch in the wind. Still it folds up very small and does the trick.

i'll put in another vote for the covercraft weathershield. compact, lightweight, fits really nicely and does a good job of protecting from uv and rain.

I'm probably going to get banned for this but....

My wife and I sold our old house and are staying with family for a couple of months till our new one is ready, so I'm garageless. Since I don't use a car cover in the garage and only needed it for a short time I didn't really want to spend the large money on the ones I found on Covercraft etc.

I went to Target (Tarsheeaay if it makes you feel better ) and got a weatherproof car cover (medium) by Car and Driver. Believe it or not it has worked perfectly so far, seems completely impervious to rain, is pretty soft on the inside, has vents sewn in to let it breathe in a few places and only cost me about $30. Fit's pretty snugly too.

So FWIW there does seem to be a less expensive alternative. Now as to how long this cover would hold up compared to the better ones, don't know, don't really care but....

Nothing wrong with a brand X cover for temp. use. I've had them with other cars and always had a problem with them blowing off (I work near the beach) My thinking is if I spent 30+ on a car what's another couple hundred bucks to protect it every day.
