I had Honda install an OEM airbag switch in my car. Now it's kid-appropriate.*
*Not as appropriate as "middle of the rear seat Camry", but the car is now appropriate enough for a booster seat or rear-facing car seat & still has the Honda warranty on the SRS bits.
Note: It's a pain getting though the process of getting the switch installed (9 months or more). You '06 drivers have it lucky.
