got my first ding today
Honda paint sux! I have some minor chips around the wheel well from only TWO auto-x events!!! I guess the Kumhos kick up gravel creates minor chips.
I'm sure more dents are on the way...unfortunately. Worse comes to worse, we can get a new paint job...with some DECENT paint! ;-)

Actually, I was really surprised at the fact that I didn't get a ding this one particular time...
At work, I parked in one of the spaces with a white painted line (the yellow painted line spaces are much narrower). I carefully reversed into the spot, checked to make sure I was straight, and hopped out. As I was pulling into the spot earlier, I noticed the car to my left was a nice shiny black Camaro. I made a mental note that this guy was probably very careful with his car, but after parking I noticed that his whole driver's side (which is now next to my driver's side) was scratched up from scraping alongside something.
I was already going to be late to work, so I threw caution to the wind and ran off into the building. When I came back out later, the black Camaro was gone but there is now a one inch scratch on the car that looks like a V. My guess is that he opened the door into mine, got in, and then closed the door (scratching me twice).
The only thing that keeps me from being really upset is that there is no ding whatsover. The gash is pretty deep...but I've looked at it from every angle in the light and there is no ding. So I guess it's just a matter of buffing it out with the touch up paint.

I once worked with a lunatic who would throw a fit every time someone asked questions about her project. So this one day, we see her stomping (literally) out to the parking lot, where she proceeded to throw the door of her 1985 Olds Cutlass into the car next to her as she got in her car.
If anyone remembers those doors, they were long and heavy! So we figured we'd do her a favor and leave a note on the nice new car with the new door ding so they could track her down...

i am so glad you did that
When I bought the car it hand a half dollar sized door dent just abouve the left rear fender by the door. I would see it only if the light was just on it. I got so pissy looking at it I got it fixed. Knock on wood I haven't gotten anything else. Dings and dents suck. I need wider fenders.
Dents & dings definitely blow.
You'd think that parking next to another S owner, your car would be safe. Well, I must've parked next to the only one of them at the Dragon who wasn't careful with his door when getting into the car. BAM! He swings the door open right into my front passenger side wheel-well. About the only saving grace was that it was able to be fixed by paintless dent removal.
I've come to the conclusion that the car's pretty much never safe from dents or dings....unless it's in a bubble.
