got my first ding today
No matter what you drive you're at risk for door dings. In the past ten years I've owned four company cars, and all but one ended up with multiple door dings and scratches. I suppost it is the exception that proves the rule, as one car was driven daily for three years, LOTS of time in parking lots, and it was flawless the day I turned it back in......
Three weeks ago my wife parked her brand new ( 1088 miles ) CLK320 at a gas station and I went in to get some drinks. As I came out a pickup pulls in next to my wife's car, and the woman in the passenger side kicks the door open ( heavy, wide door with a sharp molding ) into the CLK's door - nice deep dent and bad scrape. I hollered at her - she seemed oblivious to what she'd done, must have been having a fight with the old man behind the wheel. I got her insurance info, license, etc. - she said she was "sorry" but I think she was just sorry I saw what she did. Bottom line - her insurance paid me $500 to fix the car, and she had $500 deductable! Served the bi**h right...
