Mys2k, sorry to hear of the problems with The Man. It really sux The Man wrote you a citation after the tint incident. Perhaps minor details were omitted such as: this occurred in a school zone, or f&$#^# you pig was used instead of no officer ?

Hate to burst everyone's buble here...but the cop wasn't being a dick....if the cop wanted to be a dick he wouldn't have asked....he would have just written you four tickets and told you to have a nice day. The cop cut you a break.

As for people complaining about the tint thing...sorry but you'll get little sympathy here. First is was illegal, the cop said you can romve it or I'll write you up for it. I'll tell you right now...the reason the cop was harder on you than he might otherwise have been was because of the tint. Tinting your car is probably the dumbest thing you can do with respect to police attention. Cops HATE tint and I can't blame them. It makes thier job significantly more dangerous, because they can't see what you are doing in the car. For all they know you could be pointing a gun at them. It adds unneeded stress and danger into their job. I'd be willing to be there is a good chance the cop would have let you off with a warning if you didn't have the tint.

as for the ticket for an illegal turn, your only hope is that the officer doesn't respond. If the officer does respond then you will lose Doesn't matter how fast you were going around the corner, you didn't use your signal and that puts you in violation. If the cop responds it's his word against yours and considering that he was behind you and it was at night(where a flashing signal is harder to miss than during the day), the judge will take the word of the officer over yours. If the officer responds you have no case and you will lose.

Lose the tint next time and I bet you'll be treated differently.

^ I would have to agree. You say the officer was a complete dick, but instead of multiple violations you only got a couple. My advice would be to just pay the ticket. If you take it to court and fight it, the officer can then turn around and mention the fact that there were multiple other violations present. He cut you a break, but if you take advantage of that break, the cop can easily make it come back and bite you in the ass.

As for the tint, I find that if you immediately roll down the windows when the lights go on so as to give the officer visibility as soon as possible they tend to be much more gentle. I have 5% tint and do this ANY time I get pulled over.

Why does he care if you have a s/c or not? It's not like they're illegal or something.

Thats why you roll your windows down as soon as you see a cop.

Over here in NJ, if a cop asks you to "pop your hood" you can deny them that as it is a closed and locked compartment -- meaning you need a search warrant.

Don't even go there. For the cop to seach your car, all they need is a probable cause and that probable cause is up to the discretion of the cop.

usually they write you a ticket then you just go back to the station with the tint off later to have the ticket written off.
i would agree that the guy had a personal problem with you or your car.
there are dickheads in every profession. just bad luck.
