What the hell do these cops expect you to do if you're from out of town? Just buy a 2nd car for your trips to CA only. Geeez.
, but don't go giving them any ideas!

One other issue I thought I was going to have with him, that didn't turn out to be a problem, was that of vehicle registration. You see, Texas only requires a valid drivers license and proof of liability insurance. They do not require us to have any kind of vehicle registration in the glove box. The little sticker that's stuck to the windshield takes care of that.

The cop asked for my license, proof of insurance, and registration and I politely told him I could furnish him with the first and second, but not the third. He, logically, wanted to know why. I simply told him that Texas doesn't require us to carry it. Everything else was in order so he seemed to take me on my work for that. These days, I put the receipt I get from the court house when I renew my registration in with my proof of insurance. One of these days, I'll be out in California and I'll find out whether or not that satisfies the cop! We'll see.

Drive Safe,
Steve R.

Why didn't you just use your turn signal? I think its funny that people love to quote the "law" around here when giving advice on fighting a ticket for breaking the law!

Here's a gift - the best response to any unreasonable cop is "I've been paying a $10,000 per year retainer to an attorney every year and have never been able to use it, now I have a reason! I'm not making any comments, not having any conversation, you can talk to my attorney and clear it up with him/her".

Keep life simple.

Works every time.

You didn't signal. I for one am glad you got a ticket. How much effort does it take to signal?? A lot less than all your whining takes.

I'm not taking sides, nor am I trying to be offensive to the original poster, but I think I have too much pride to sit on the side of the road and take my tint off while an officer watches. I don't care how many other additional violations it would keep me from receiving. Like someone else said, that was just an abuse of power. You know that cop laughed it up with a bunch of other officers about that.

Scan a copy of the ticket & post it.
lol... wow... i believe i have more life than faking a story that never happened...
it actually happened in front of my friend's house in fremont, and he can be my witness as well as other people who's seen the ticket..

anyways, i didn't signal because i didn't know a cop was following me (now that most cop cars seem to have a very skinny LED light thing on roof) and i did think about just having him give me tickets for everything, but i figured if he was really going to be that dick about it, he could just make my night a lot more "interesting"
but there are some dick head cops out there in cali.. one time my friend got pulled over for having his car too low and he actually measured it with a ruler and he got a fix it ticket for that..

also as soon as i saw those damn lights behind me, i rolled down my windows but he said he already saw it while following me so i knew he was gonna get me for one or the other and i just wanted to get off of it with the fewest tickets possible..

now i'm just waiting to see how much this ticket costs... i know fighting this "didn't give signal before turn" is hard to fight, but maybe i'll try to have the judge lower the fine at least... =(

Cops aren't always dick. I have been let go a few times. It's normally the rookie or the old farts that wants to prove something.

I actually did get harrassed by a cop and reported him to his senior captain. I would if anything did happen to him or the cops just got a laugh over it.

Hmm... that IS a good point.

I for one, make it a fact to ONLY signal when I see a cop car. After all, nobody else on the road needs to know when I'm going to change lanes or turn.

:edit: (for sarcastic emphasis so DERF knows I'm being facetious):
