Got a refund on extended warranty scam.
I inadvertently signed an agreement for a "Cost Guard" extended warranty for $2,000 while buying mt S2K.
I went back to the dealer and threatened them with legal action if I wasn't allowed to cancel the remainder of the 75,000 contract. THey relented and canceled it.

I don't think you can really call it a scam.
You can call the dealer slimy if they had to sign it without telling you what it is, but then you have to look at yourself as to why you signed something without reading it.
If they took the money and then refused anything you requested done under warranty or it was a company that didn't exist or something, then I would say it's a scam.
I had an aftermarket warranty on my Celica. It came in handy when both the engine died (spun rod bearing) and the tranny died shortly after. I think the dealership screwed it all up, but the warranty covered it. WHen I sold the Celica shortly after getting it back, I cancelled the warranty and got money back too.
It's just the way it works.

When I bought my new s2000 I thought the sales pitch was over when price was agreed upon with the sales person. When I went to the office to sign the check I was hit with a second round of selling. The sales manager started out covering the details of the sale incuding the car warantee. A honda $1,800 36 month maintaince package was slid into the car warantee presentation such that it appeard that the package needed to be purchased for the car to have warantee covrage. I got seriously pissed thinking that honda required the additional package for warantee coverage on the car. Getting ready to walk out I flat asked the guy if the package was required for warantee coverage on the car. The guy then said that the warantee was still there with out the package, and that the package was a great deal to save the customer $$$ on getting the scheduled maintaince done. He was somewhat embarassed when trying to sell the extended warantee thing. The dealership reqiured him to do the sales pitches. When the honda pople called later to record my sales experience, I let them know that I thought the maintaince package sale thing possibly missled many people into purchasing something they did not really need.

I bought a CPO'd car and opened the owners manual to find the previous owner of 2 years had bought an extended 8 year warranty.
I still dont know if it would have transferred but it pissed me off slightly.
