^Unless you drive both, like myself . I have a Prius V as well - but bad drivers come in all sorts of makes and models.

For good reason.

Prius drivers especially. It seems that almost every bonehead maneuver I've seen in traffic the last few years has been committed by a Prius.

1. Really! I've never heard; none of my friends would drive a Corolla; it's below them (I'm the schoolteacher and poor one of the bunch ).
2. I've got one friend who is a fireman and wife is a nurse, who own properties, that started driving a Prius, which was a real switch from the large pick ups and SUVs they have always had. I'll warn them that their rep is on the line!

Here is the damage

The body shop quoted $1800 and my deductible is 500. If I cash out my net is going to be 1300.

Do you guys think I'll have better luck trying get is fixed at another shop within my cash out budget.

Thanks

I'd love to hear how all of you have over thought avoid stone chips.
I avoid stone chips by driving around the stones…kidding. my friend is 3M.

but, its all about respect. Respect the car parked next to you. We spend out hard earned dollar on something that we respect- our s2000. I don't care if its a $1000 s10 pickup…hey, maybe that's all the guy can afford. and they keep it looking right, maintain it.

I worry about unnecessary scratches and dents. I can respect the stone chips i get off the dragon trip. I can respect the cone smudges i get at the autocross. that's patina. I get all bent up though if i get a completely avoidable parking lot ding 'cause some assnapkin can't get to the gym so their fatness can get out of their car without swinging the door at mach1 to its full detent and smacking my door.

As for the OP, I'd see if i could buff out the scratches. For scratches- no really deep ones- i've had good success with 2000 wet sandpaper, rubbing compound, polish. Check with a paintless dent guy to see if the metal can be fixed.

good luck.

respect
darcy

Lol, I never really heard about Corolla drivers, but I was rear ended by a guy driving an older corolla. He rear ended me while I was waiting to turn left at a red light...He said "Ah man, I thought you were going to go for it!"

1. I understand your pain. When my perfect S (04 bought with 9k miles on it) got some 1 inch deep scratches where the front and side bumper met on the passenger side (all my fault), I wouldn't even go around and look at the damage (in my garage) that evening b/c I was so upset that I had ruined my only perfect car in my life.
2. I thought I would wait until I had more scratches and scrapes before I addressed it, but after nearly 4 yrs. I don't even notice anymore.
3. But, having the whole door scraped would be much worse, paying for what darcy recommends could work, and you wouldn't be out much $, and you could always address it when the money flow was better.
4. So sorry though; we all feel your pain!

My 2004 S has just under 12K miles. Not a ding, not a scratch. Could be put back on the dealer showroom floor. I know a scratch will come, but I'm going to ball.

1. That is exactly how I felt, so when the scratch comes, it will hurt, but I have gone from 8745 miles to 49,455 since April of 2010, and I still feel like you do about my 04, imperfections now and all!
