try claybar + compound. not going to get everything out, but it'll hold you over till you decide what to do.

You have a $500.00 deductible on comprehensive? Wouldn't shopping cart damage be comprehensive?

Anyway, don't sweat using the insurance. I seriously doubt that a little paint work will have much effect on the value of a 9 year old car -- nor would most people care about it if buying it -- especially if you have photos showing the damage.

Life is short. Don't sweat the small stuff.

Buff that out! Then go to a well known PDR specialist. It would be a few hundred tops.

I bet most of it will be gone and you'll rethink painting.

A lot of horror stories stem from the body shop. It might be difficult for them to hide the fact that side was repainted since your color is silver.

Are there any paint completely scratched to bare metal? Because that looks nothing to me, a good paint correction would take out 95% of it. clay bar the surface, IPA wipe down, m105 compound, m205 polish, then wax of your choice for protection. PDR for dents removal if any exist.

don't repaint it YET
