If you're EVER in eastern Tennessee, you'll have to take this drive. From Cosby, TN go south on Rt. 32. For 7 miles, there literally isn't one straight stretch in the road over 50 yards long. It is absolutely beautiful. After 7 miles (at the North Carolina state line) it turns into a dirt road, so you can either continue down to Waterville and pick up I40, or you can turn around and come back. Don't miss it if you get a chance!

From the miatadrives.com site...

"It begins in Sevierville (about 30 min. of beautiful driving from the gap) on a road numbered 329. This road is rather soft long flowing turns that comes out in Cosby Tn. Turn right onto 321/32. Highway 321 turns off this road about 3 miles out. Stay straight on 32 . This road starts out innocent enough but becomes a "mini-dragon" very quickly with 150 turns in 7 miles. This road is tighter and much sharper than the gap . Yes...believe it or not!!! The fun part is you end up at the Tenn./N.C. State line. Turn around and come back the same way you came. WOW!!!

The pavement on TN 32 ends at the state line. However, the road into NC is manageable in a Miata (1st gear, idling), and in 2 miles you reach pavement again. There you can pick up I-40 (at the Waterville exit), or beforehand, you can stop at Mountain Mama's general store (not quite the name, but close; the hamburgers are legendary). "

We have lots of roads like that. As with that one in Cosby Tn, pavement isn't always included!

Amazing you should mention that particular road! I took my S2K on it's very first road trip in early October (purchased the car 8/31/00). It was a week-long camping trip to the Smoky Mountains, and I put a thousand miles on it while up there not including the 500 miles getting there and back. That particular road was one of my favorites.

BTW, I only saw one other S2K in my travels in Tennessee, a white/red one I spotted at Newfound Gap, and he and his girlfriend followed me down the mountain in some rather heavy traffic (quite a concerned look on her face at times - hehe). One of you guys?
