grille-tech grilles...do they scratch?
Does the center piece scratch the bumper at all? I'm curious because I'd assume as you drive along, the wind would be pushing on the grille, causing the perimeter of it to be scratching against the bumper.
Mine have done
I'm about to p/x my 02 against a new 04 and discovered when I came to remove my grilles to sell on the board that the paint has been scratched off, all the way down to the bare plastic. It could just be the way that I've installed them, however.
Ah well - not the end of the world. It's not in the most noticeable position and I should be able to touch it up.

Yeah, the rubber trim on my grill has left a nice black rim around that opening as well. It's not too noticable if the grill is in place, but were it removed, it would show. I guess the grill will have to go with the car one day when I sell it. Not too big of a deal. I don't honestly know how you'd avoid it other than using a lot more screws to mount the grill so it has no chance of wiggling anywhere.
The black rubber cover is what scratches your paint. Actually it's the dirt & grime that builds up between the rubber and your paint is what causes the scratches. I don't think it's avoidable.
I had one and sold it, not because it scratches ( didn't figure that out until I un-installed it) I decided to sell it because it restricts air-flow to the radiator/condensor. Plus I just installed a snorkle intake that relies heavily on air- ram coming in from the front bumper.
My buddy has one and loves it. His car is stock too.

Does someone design a grille that has a bigger/wider mesh pattern for the S ? I only know of the two, Coastal Metals and Grille Tech, and they both have restrictive designs.
The wider mesh pattern would serve the purpose of reducing the possibility of crap getting caught in your condensor and wont really impede on air flow.
I've seen it on other cars.

thats weird i had my center grill on for months and when i removed it i had no marks what so ever. i don't have the grill in anymore because it won't fit with my airwalker lip. but the sides are still in. the only problem i have is the little screws that came with the grills to hold them in where silver and i bought black grills. so i have to paint the screws, the paint chips off like every month so i have to touching it up.
