Guys, I need your help :(
Well, as some of you know, I sold my S2000. Reason was because I bought it used, and it wasn't the color combo I wanted. Well, today was supposed to be the day that I drive home my new black on red. Went to the dealer with my dad to go and buy it, and it was sold (it was never reserved for me or anything so I couldn't really get mad). It had the full Honda kit, and the 100,000 mile warranty. I was so upset, I wanted to just start balling right there in the salesmans arms. The guy told me that they have ONE more 2001 coming in about a week. But listen to this, not only is it red, the color I least like, but they wan't to charge me $4k above sticker. The guy was only willing to go down to $2k above sticker. My dad said he'd call him when he thinks about it. And we all know what that means, I'm not gonna buy it. Anyways, my ORIGINAL plan was for me to get a remaining 2001 thats left on my cousins lot (his a general manager of a Honda dealer). He said that if the 2002's come in, and that if there are any 2001's left, that he will give it to me for invoice. Just my like, all the 2001's at his dealer have been sold. So what do I do guys? I sold me S2000 to get another, and now I can't have neither. Anybody here think they can help me with getting one for MSRP in So. Cal?
Gosh, I'm so down right now, I wanna cry.
All I can think about is what if I don't end up getting one. And theres no way I'll be able to afford a 2002 because the sales rep said MSRP for those are gonna be over $35,000, plus the usual dealer markup.

I just got my replacement S2k the end of July at Nelson Honda in El Monte for MSRP. I went through Priceline.com, which cost me $50. The whole transaction went smoothly and quickly. (Do a search to see one of my earlier posts on this.)
Good luck.

I am sure MSRP for the 2002 is not going to be over $35K. I am guessing it's more likely to be ~ $33.5K (including destination). If you really want a MY2001 at MSRP, call every Honda dealer in So Cal.
BTW, if you act or sound like you'll die if you can't find one, the dealer would be stupid to not charge you a premium. As in any negotiation scenerio, the less motivated party has the upper hand. Remember, the MY2002's are coming, so the dealers are under pressure to clear inventory. Call dealers in the more rural areas. If they happen to have one in inventory, they are more likely to sell it to you for MSRP. Good luck.
p.s. I got my 2001 for ~$1000 below MSRP in April of 2001.

Damn, I feel for you though I cannot do anything to change or help your situation. But I have to praise you for selecting the Black/Red combination. Which is in my opinion, "STEALTH". I hope you get your machine in your desired color and price non-theless soon.
If you can wait till the end of this month (Sept), you have a good chance at getting a good deal. When I bought my car, they gave it to me for MSRP Since I bought it on the last day of the quarter. The dealership wanted to sell the car before the quarter ended, so they gave me a special deal.
